Kaulir Kisor Chatterjee did his post graduation and doctorate in Applied Geology from Indian School of Mines. He has worked in the field of mineral economics for 40 years. Having superannuated from the post of chief mineral economist in Indian Bureau of Mines, Government of India in January 2004, he has been engaged in writing, teaching AND consultancy works.
While in Indian Bureau of Mines, he organized the National Mineral Inventory, and was the national coordinator for implementing the United Nations Framework Classification (UNFC) system of mineral resource classification in India. He also participated in rationalization of mineral taxation and royalty regime and also the mineral legislation framework of India.
Besides about 50 technical papers published in national and international journals and seminar proceedings, he has authored 8 books in the field of mineral economics and management and also participated in over 20 projects.
As in 2012, he is an Adjunct Professor of Mineral Economics in Indian School of Mines; He has also been a Visiting Faculty of the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, India.
